Breaking the Barrier of Poverty Through Education in Rural Kisii
Zeph Omweno Foundation supports children from disadvantaged backgrounds through education, mentorship, and community empowerment programs. We believe no child's future should be limited by poverty.
What We Do & How We Do It
Each programme is designed with a clear purpose, a structured approach, and a measurable goal.

School Mentorship Program
About This Program
Our School Mentorship Program connects students with experienced mentors who guide them through the academic journey with motivation, discipline, and goal-setting support.
How We Implement It
- Pairing students with trained volunteer mentors from professional backgrounds
- Monthly in-school mentorship sessions and one-on-one check-ins
- Goal-setting workshops and academic progress reviews
What We Aim to Achieve
“To reduce school dropout rates and improve academic performance by giving every learner a trusted adult who believes in their potential.”

Stories of Change

Community Outreach
Ida's Story: A Second Chance Through Education
Ida became a mother in her final year of secondary school. Fear, stigma, and the cost of caring for a newborn threatened to end her education for good. Through ZOF's Community Outreach Program she received baby essentials, counselling, and mentorship — and, just as importantly, the message that becoming a mother did not have to cancel her dreams. Her family chose to stand with her rather than turn away.

Education Support
A Uniform Can Change More Than What a Child Wears
Sheilla, in Grade 9, survived on one worn uniform that she washed each evening and wore again the next morning. When heavy rain meant it could not dry, she wore it wet, wore home clothes, or stayed home altogether. The School Uniforms Program removed that barrier — restoring her dignity and her attendance.

Health & Dignity
When a Girl's Period Should Never Stop Her Education
In rural schools, a girl can miss up to four days of learning every month — 12 to 14 days a term — simply because her family cannot afford sanitary towels, then be assessed against classmates who never left. Through the Hygiene Support Program, ZOF supplies sanitary towels to schools and pairs them with menstrual-health education for pupils and teachers.

Ida is planning her return to school — a teenage mother writing the next chapter herself.
